We provide day care for three- and four-year-old children of working or student parents in the Highland Park/Highwood communities. To support the needs of working families, the day care center is open all year from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with the exception of major holidays and a two-week break in mid August.
The center's developmentally appropriate curriculum follows the Illinois Early Learning Standards. It also includes professional music classes, weekly visits from Highland Park Public Library staff, and cultural arts programming. The day care center offers breakfast, hot lunches (cooked on site), nutritious snacks and comfortable napping facilities. Large motor activity is encouraged in our full-sized gym and on our well-equipped, multilevel playground.
The staff at Community are experienced and highly qualified, degreed professionals in early childhood education and related fields. Their average tenure is 15 years, which significantly contributes to the continuity and stability of the programs.
Vision and hearing screenings are conducted by the Lake County Health Department. School District 112 provides speech and language screenings, as well as support services for children in need.
Day care registration begins in March for the upcoming school year and is ongoing until classes are fully enrolled.
